It is so hard to believe we are already in February! With the New Year technically still in effect, I want to talk about healthy habits. I know from personal experience that going all in with a dozen changes is great and all, but it’s also a surefire way to crash and burn. Over the next 4 weeks I will post a week’s worth of healthy habits to try. They will be super simple so it will be easy to integrate them into your daily habits.
Healthy habits for the first week
Day 1 – Start with lemon water.
Drink a warm glass of lemon water when you wake up. This not only helps rev your metabolism upon waking, but prepares your body for the day.
Day 2 – Drink up!
Drink a glass of water before every meal. This will aid is the digestion of the meal, and also help you to not eat as much.
Day 3 – Take the long way.
Use this as an opportunity to get in some exercise. Park at the back of the parking lot….Take the stairs instead of the elevator….Go for a walk on your lunch break. Even if it is not a full workout, every little bit counts!
Day 4 – Have a healthy meal.
Choose 1 meal for today and make it healthy. Make it all veggie (vegetable stir fry, meatless spaghetti etc.) or use the healthier options with meat (ground turkey instead of beef). Skip the biscuits, butter, and potatoes and use healthier alternatives like rice.
Day 5 – Have some mint.
Brush your teeth or pop in some gum after you meals. This will give you that fresh breath and help you not eat junk just to snack.
Day 6 – Eat a fiber rich breakfast.
Try some fiber filled oatmeal. This will keep you fuller longer and help get things moving too.
Day 7 – Get a good night’s sleep!
Get at least 8 hours of sleep. This will help you feel rested and more productive the next day.
Go ahead and write them down, post them, print them out….whatever you want to do to keep track of them. But most importantly, do them. Just follow the habit for that day, and then add each habit on to the next as the days progress. By the end of the month you should have 28 healthy habits to fill your day!
What are some of your favorite healthy habits?
