I’m currently making my way through the book Becoming a Supple Leopard (it’s a book on proper body mechanics). Last night I read the instructions on proper spinal alignment into a neutral position. Today I tried it and was amazed at how far off from neutral I normally am.
The first step for proper alignment is to align your pelvis. You do this by squeezing your glutes (in a standing position)which aligns your pelvis and you then tighten your core muscles to hold it there. Right now, I want you all to stand up and get into the position you normally would stand in with “proper” posture. Then, squeeze your glutes and pay attention to your pelvis. Did it move? If so, you were not properly aligned!
So far this book is amazing! And Amazon has it at a great price. I urge everyone to purchase it. We only have one body. Let’s take care if it and make it last! You can get the book here: Becoming a Supple Leopard.
