I grew up eating whatever I wanted and I did not worry about gaining weight. As I child I was very skinny and thought that I would be that way forever, little did I know that once puberty reared its ugly head I would start gaining weight. But, I played sports so I was able to keep my weight gain to a minimum.
As an adult I had no idea how to eat properly and the sports went any and I started to pack on the pounds. After letting this be the norm for several years, I decided that I had had enough and began dieting and seeing a personal trainer. During my time on a diet I did loose a good amount of weight but the second the “diet” was over I started gaining weight back. I continued to work out and noticed that my fingers and toes were swelling as if I had jammed them. I went to the doctor and found out that I have rheumatoid arthritis and lupus both of which are auto autoimmune disorders where my body is attacking itself. I have noticed that the way I eat affects how I feel. So, clean eating and exercise are going to be part of my life from now on.
“Diets” are a temporary fix to a long term problem. We have to get the mindset of eating clean to be healthy not just looking good (though that is an added bonus). Eating clean makes you feel better from the inside out.
