Spring has sprung and before we know it Summer will be here (or at least in Texas). My fair skin is patiently waiting a golden tan, while the rest of me is excited to explore new outdoor adventures. A little fun in the sun is all we really need to keep the pep in our step during the warmer months but before heading into the great outdoors be well prepared with these tips.
1. Slather on the Sun Screen:
Choose an SPF 30 sunscreen to help block 97% of UVB rays (the rays that cause sunburn). Anything higher and you’re probably wasting your money. The key to sunburn protecting is reapplication every 2-4 hours. Grab a water proof sunblock to help in sweaty or wet situations.
2. Identify yourself:
Make sure you carry some form of ID. Whether your license, a wrist band, or a dog tag, do it! Until recently I didn’t think to follow this rule but heaven forbid something should happen to you, it’s great to be identified. Check out this emergency ID bracelet that you can update anytime you like.
3. Protect those baby blues, or browns, or greens:
When choosing the right sun glasses make sure they block 99% of UV rays. Once that box is checked the other features (darkness, style, polarization) can be decided if necessary depending on your preferene.
4. Have a plan:
It’s great to adventure but having some sort of plan will help avoid situations that could leave you lost, stranded, or overexerted in the heat. Know your limits and make sure the plan fits them.

5. Make your water bottle your accessory:
Staying hydrated will keep you feeling good and looking good during these warmer months ahead. Grab a water bottle with multiple functions to really make it an accessory. My favorite is the Contigo with a storage pocket for your keys.
Now that you’re set for an outdoor workout let’s put these tips to work!
